About Us

Burnage Good Neighbours is a voluntary care group set up in 1977 as a job creation project.

Today BGN promotes Valuing Older People and supports people to stay in their own homes longer. It provides opportunities for people who feel isolated and lonely to meet others and feel like they are a valuable part of society. Read more...

What people say

We asked the people who use Burnage Good Neighbours and our partners what they thought of us. They told us that we were 'friendly', 'brilliant', 'fantastic', 'awesome' and 'caring'. We're very happy with that but will always strive to improve.

Our Partnerss

We work collaboratively with a range of partners who refer people to us, support people with complex needs when we have reached the limit of what we can provide and work with us on joint projects.

We value the partnerships we have with our statutory partners and the third sector organisations who provide complementary services. We also value our links with private care and health providers who can offer specialist expertise when we need it.

Recently, we have found that referrals to our service are increasing and people are coming to us with increasingly complex needs. It is becoming more common for us to have to refer people onto larger organisations,or back to statutory sector partners as we have not had the capacity or expertise available to support them.

We ask that our referral partners contact us before referring someone to us. This will allow us to have a discussion about the person being referred and their needs and will help us to assess whether we have the capacity and skills available to support the person.
